I am interested in MCAN's continued dedication to promote Black liberation. I strongly believe that Black people suffer the most as a result of the “isms” in this country. And if we can get Black needs met, we will create an equitable system for all people.

As Operations Manager, I am able to question the systems that are currently in place and also imagine a new world that we can build towards that facilitates our work. Community organizing is hard work, exhausting at times. So my role is to create new ways to facilitate and minimize our work by creating a code or road map that we can use and also share with other organizations. My unique background of research and connecting with others has given me the upper hand to always ask others what they are currently doing, discern the gaps and be a thinking partner of what a more efficient system could look like.

I would love to see MCAN tackle the insurance world. Too many people have suffered from the capitalist system of our insurance and it's time that we require health insurance that fits our personal needs and not one size fits all insurance.

IN THE FIELD

Showing up, literally and figuratively, for MCAN affiliates across the state is rewarding and it was great to gather in Springield with Helena, Karen and Janine to support a youth action with Pioneer Valley Project.
