TRAINING
MCAN Leadership Assembly Training
Framingham, May 2019
ARE YOU READY TO STEP INTO YOUR POWER?
leader (n.) -
a leader builds momentum through a base of followers who inform the leader’s work and trust the leader to bring their voices, and sometimes themselves, into initiatives to transform an issue, policy, or system to disrupt the status quo
Organizers train leaders, so that leaders can organize.
In other words, grassroots community organizing is all about developing leaders to become their most bold, powerful, and authentic selves. Those leaders then carry on the work of impacting lives and transforming systems.
Training is about building power and at every MCAN training you will discover the power of:
Guiding Principles
to help you take the training home and
put it to work
Storytelling
to engage others
and illustrate impact
Agitation
asking questions to see and meet somebody
where they are, but not leave them there
Rejuvenation
to rest, refuel and reimagine
for the work
of revolution
“School of Prophetic Action training allowed me to see what I already knew, but more clearly. I knew there were systems in place that were holding me back. I knew I wanted something more for myself and my family and I knew I wanted to change the environment of my neighborhood, but I didn't know how to go about it. SOPA helped me to get clear on what I was up against, but that I didn't have to make a difference all by myself. (Through being a part of the trainings) I told myself I would step out in faith and work for myself without the security of a weekly paycheck. I would have never thought in a million years I would be connected to so many beautiful people doing incredible things in this world. It breathes hope and that's what I'm trying to be about - Hope for someone else.”
